Does it need internet or a signal?

No. The whole library is stored inside the box, and it makes its own Wi-Fi, so it works with no internet, data or cell signal.

What do I read it on?

Any phone, tablet or laptop with a web browser. Connect to the Ultimate’s Wi-Fi and the library opens in your browser, with no app to install.

Can more than one person use it at once?

Yes. Several phones and laptops can connect at the same time, so everyone in the house can look things up.

How do I power it?

With any USB-C power: a wall charger, a power bank or a small solar panel.

Should I get the Ultimate or the Survival Index One?

The Ultimate shares the library with every phone and laptop in the house. The Survival Index One is a single reader with its own paper-like screen, so it keeps working when the phones are dead. Many families keep both.
